What We Do
Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation creates the margin of excellence between average and exceptional healthcare by ensuring Sarasota Memorial Health Care System stays on the leading edge of today’s technology and patient care. We utilize donor contributions to support key Sarasota Memorial Hospital initiatives to benefit the healthcare of the community we serve. It's a mission the Healthcare Foundation has dedicated itself to for over 40 years and it's a legacy we, as a community, can continue for years to come.
Our non-profit organization was established in 1976 with the main objective of allocating philanthropic funds and awarding grants so that Sarasota Memorial Health Care System can continue to provide world-class healthcare for our thriving community.
Healthcare Foundation funding has helped Sarasota Memorial Health Care System surpass many national benchmarks, including survival rates, while earning esteemed designations such as Truven Health Analytics 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals and Becker's Healthcare Review's "America's 100 Top Hospitals" in 2017 and "150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare" in 2017. SMH has also been given the highest 5-Star rating from the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid for overall quality and safety and has received three consecutive "A" grades for patient safety from the Leapfrog Group.
Superior healthcare lays the foundation for a strong community. We aim to inspire patrons to participate in our ongoing mission of securing Sarasota Memorial Health Care System's role as the standard for best practices, best results, and the best health care because, someday, our lives may depend upon it. Hear from those that are directly impacted by the generosity of our great community:
